More Security Coming to CATS Online

We take your financial security very seriously. As a member, you have entrusted the credit union to protect your funds and personal information. Therefore, OUCU is adding new security features designed to prevent online banking users from falling victim to bogus websites and to help combat ID theft. This new enhanced log in security is also known as “multifactor authentication”.

You will first need to enroll in the “multifactor authentication”.

You will only need to sign up once, after that you will enter CATS Online with the new login security.

Enrollment procedures.

  1. Click on “Enroll for Multifactor Authentication”
  2. Enter your member number
  3. Enter your PIN
  4. Enter the random Security Code number you see
  5. Click SUBMIT
  6. Set up 5 challenge questions to which only you know the answers. (joint account member will also need to know if they use CATS Online with the same member number)
  7. Use the default questions or create your own. (answers are case-sensitive)
  8. Enter a Security Image – this is text and will be shown to you in the future so you can be confident you are truly in CATS Online.
  9. OPTIONAL - choose a log in “nickname” that you can use in place of your member number.
  10. Click SUBMIT
Once you go back and enter CATS Online with the new procedures in place, you will be asked whether you want to “register this computer”. If you register your PC, you will not be asked a challenge question.

Why has the CATS Online login procedure changed?

We have added more login security features to CATS Online homebanking (called Multifactor Authentication or MFA) to help protect you from online fraud. With the increase in “phishing” emails, fraudulent “key-logging” and other activities, we wanted ensure your confidence in CATS Online.

What is the Security Code?

The Security Code is a randomly-generated number that appears each time you try to log in. It is for added security to eliminate fraudsters from randomly selecting account numbers.

What is my Security Image?

The Security Image is a word or phrase you select that will be converted to an image that can help you identify our CATS Online Internet Banking as a legitimate site. When you log into CATS Online you will see the Security Image after you enter your PIN.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Use a unique set of characters (6-20 letters and/or numbers) that you can use to identify our CATS Online site has your Security Image
  • Please do not enter any PINs or Passwords

What does "Register this computer" mean?

If you choose to register your computer, you will not be prompted to answer one of your secret questions you selected during enrollment. You will still have to enter your account number, PIN and the random Security Code. You can register your computer after you have completed the initial enrollment and login. The system uses information about your hardware and software to recognize a registered computer. If you delete your browser cookies on your PC, you will have to re-register the computer. The secure cookie will periodically expire on your computer and will require you to register your computer again.

What does "This computer is a public computer, do not register" mean?

If you are using a computer that is accessed by numerous users (such as a library) we recommend you do not register your account on that PC. We only recommend you register your personal computer at home or at work.

What is a cookie?

A secure cookie is a small text file with hashed content that is placed on a computer to help identify the user. In this case, the cookie that is stored on your PC during login lets you bypass your personalized security questions whenever you access CATS Online in the future. The secure cookie will periodically expire on your computer and will require you to remember your computer again. When you clear or delete your cookies, you will be asked one of security question when logging in. You can then select “register this computer” again to avoid having to answer a question.

Can I register my account on another computer?

Yes. You can register your account on more than one PC.

Can I, my spouse and children register our accounts on the same PC?

Yes. You can remember numerous accounts on the same PC. This will bypass the security questions when you log in. Please note that joint account holders will need to share the security information if they both use CATS Online.

Do I have to re-register my PC when I delete my cookies?

Yes. The system uses your PC hardware and software information to recognize you are a legitimate user. If you delete your cookies, the information is no longer available to authenticate your login. You will be prompted to answer one of your security questions. You will then have the opportunity to register your computer again.

Why do I have to register again when I use a separate browser on the same PC to access CATS Online Internet Banking?

When you register your account on a certain PC it stores software and hardware information used to access Internet Banking. The system stores information like your browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox) and operating system (Windows XP, 2000, Macintosh). If you access Internet Banking with anything different for future logins, you are required to register the new system information.

Will my PIN change?

No. The PIN you use to log into CATS Online will remain the same.

Will I still have online access to all of my accounts?

Yes. This process only affects the steps you take to log in.

What will happen to my bill pay settings or any other saved settings within CATS Online Internet Banking that I had set up before this change?

No change.

What if I forget my PIN or the answers to my questions?

Contact us by phone at (740)597-2800 or (800)562-8420 and we can reset your session.

Can I change my questions and/or my Security Image in CATS Online?

Yes, once logged in CATS Online, click on “more features” button, then, “MFA” button.
