You have a lot on your mind - we'll make this simple.
We've been a part of student life for many years and understand the financial needs of your student. Our college student accounts give both you and your student easy access to their money.
Q: Should I be a joint owner on my son or daughter’s account?
A: It’s recommended. As a joint owner you can easily make deposits at ATMs, thousands of shared branching locations, with mobile check deposit, and through online transfers from your account to theirs.
As a joint owner, you can call us for account assistance anytime. You can also set up text or email account balance alerts.
Q: Why should my son/daughter open an account in Athens?
A: OUCU is the most convenient way for student and parents to access and manage their money while in college!
Q: What is shared branching?
A: Participating credit unions from all over the country share facilities through a special network, giving members thousands of branches to perform transactions just as if they were at their home credit union teller counter.
Just be sure to have your OUCU account number (or your student’s) and photo ID. Use the convenient locator search box on our website to find the nearest location.
Students can send and receive funds from their accounts at other institutions (A2A) or to another person (P2P), such as a parent, no matter where they bank. Your student would simply initiate a request to you securely through online banking using either a cell phone number or email address. There is no charge for this service.
Transfer money through your home credit union. OUCU belongs to a shared network that includes over 370 credit unions in Ohio and more than 5,400 nationwide.
