Economic Impact Payments
With the passage of the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 comes a second round of direct payments to qualified individuals. To keep you informed, we’ve provided answers to some of the most important questions about these payments.
Who is eligible for the second round of payments?
Generally, U.S. citizens and those considered "resident aliens" by the IRS who cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax returns will be eligible for a payment if they have an adjusted gross income for 2019 of $75,000 or less for an individual or $150,000 or less for married couples.
What do I need to do to get my payment?
Payments are automatic. If you are eligible, no action is required to receive a payment. Watch out for scammers promising a faster or larger payment. The IRS or the credit union will not contact you by phone or email asking for sensitive information.
When could I receive my payment?
The IRS has begun processing direct deposits and checks. Payments may be available as soon as Monday, Jan 4 and will continue to be delivered to eligible individuals from that date forward. OUCU's online banking system will not show provisional or pending payments. In general, direct deposits will be received faster than paper checks or pre-loaded debit cards.
How will I receive my payment?
If the IRS has your direct deposit information on file you will receive an electronic payment. If you do not have direct deposit information on file, you will receive a paper check or a preloaded debit card.
If you receive a direct deposit, you can use online banking or the mobile app to see if your payment has been deposited.
If you receive a paper check, you can deposit it using mobile deposit in the app, the night depository, an ATM, in-person, or in the drive-thru. To avoid long lines and maintain social distancing, we encourage you to consider using the mobile app, night depository, or ATM.
How much will my payment be?
Eligible individuals will receive $600, eligible married couples will receive $1,200. Those with qualifying children will receive an additional $600 for each qualifying child. You can estimate your payment with this Stimulus Check Calculator:
