Bobcat Savings Club includes:

Beat the Heat Movie Series


We’re proud to again support the ninth annual Beat the Heat series – a splendid showcase of children-and family-friend films at the uptown Athena Cinema on Saturdays at 3 p.m. The price of admission is a donation to benefit children’s organizations. A minimum donation of $2 per person is suggested.

JUNE 29: The Wizard of Oz
The Wizard of Oz is a true classic of American cinematic history. With its fantastical story adapted from L Frank Baum’s children’s book, its unforgettable characters, incredible sets, timeless soundtrack, and rich Technicolor cinematography, the legacy of this Oscar-winning masterpiece is sure to endure long into the future.

Donations benefit CDKL5 research for this rare developmental epileptic encephalopathy caused by mutations in the CDKL5 gene.

JULY 6: Wonka
Ever wonder how everyone’s favorite candy man came to be so? Timothée Chalamet stars in Wonka the film that tells the backstory of Roald Dahl’s classic character – Willy Wonka!

JULY 20: The Last Unicorn
From Rankin/Bass Productions comes this classic 1982 animated fantasy film that tells the story of the Last Unicorn. One day, our equine heroine learns of The Red Bull’s villainous efforts to chase all unicorns to the ends of Earth and embarks on a quest in search of the rest of her kind. Along the way, she is taken into captivity by an evil witch who makes her a carnival sideshow attraction.

AUGUST 3: The Land Before Time
When famine and cataclysm beset the world of the dinosaurs, four young saurians – Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky, and Petrie – go in search of relief in a mythical place known as the Great Valley. Their journey presents the group with trials and tribulations that will test their commitment to each another and lead them to discover what is truly important in life.

AUGUST 17: The Neverending Story
After his recently widowed father confronts him about daydreaming too much, bookish 10-year old Bastian Bux heads to school with many deep thoughts to consider. On the way, he encounters a group of bullies who give chase and cause Bastian to take refuge in an odd little bookstore. He takes interest in the unusual book that the proprietor is reading but is cautioned against opening its cover. When the proprietor becomes distracted, Bastian seizes the opportunity to borrow the book and retreats to the attic of the school to begin reading it. He soon discovers that not only does a world beyond his imagination lie within the pages of the book, but also that he is somehow connected to the events that unfold as the story progresses.
